Well try telling this to the New Zealand All Blacks, Premier league footballers,The England Cricket team or the many more athletes who intergrate Pilates into their training programmes.
Even though Joseph Pilates created his practice for men, it is perceived as an exercise method for women and therefore is not widely populated by men.
Most men are strong, but usually tighter and less flexible than women. Pilates doesn't have to replace weights or the gym, however after a good Pilates session one can feel many more muscles than in an average gym session. Pilates works towards functional fitness. This allows the individual to become more aware of their body, helping to correct posture, muscle imbalances and prevent injuries!! I can say I am welcoming more and more men into my Pilates classes and hopefully soon the divide will become less and less.
